Crazy Little Thing Called Love

~poignant portraits of the ties that bind - and sometimes knot~

I just came back from this play called em, as mentioned above, Crazy Little Thing Called Love at the YMCA hall, Ipoh. It was a 2 hour play from 5pm till 7pm and the tickets were FOC. I got to know of this through one my christian friends and she invited us all to the play. There's even an invitation through Facebook! LoL
The play featured The Footstool Players and was organised by the St. Peter's Church Ipoh.

It was a series of sketches that would highlight various issues affecting marriage and family relationships to support marriage enrichment seminars. The play is in two acts. Act 1 deals with love, courtship, and marriage, while Act 2 deals with family relationships. Each act was 55 minutes long and at the end of every sketch there were short snippets of songs played in the background and one of my favourites was Do What You Have To Do by Sarah McLachlan (I'm gonna go download this after I'm done here!)

These were my favourite sketches:-
Be Real
Its about this guy er, Robbert Ooi I think, LOL. He signed up for this speed dating thing and was doing a video recording session of himself (introduction). His guide was being all funny and asking him to pretend to be as good in front of the camera, but in the end the moral of the story was to be your own self and not pretend just so that you can give people the ideal impression of you.

I Love You More
This sketch is about a couple who compares their love with almost everything under the sun and tries to win by competing with each other on who can say the most poetic comparisons! Haha! It was so hilarious and amusing~ There were many phrases and its all about the mountain, the rivers, the entire universe...erm I don't know what else, LOL. It was lovely though.

The Ledger People
In this sketch, the husband and wife keeps track of each other's merits and dimerits in a ledger book. Yes, ledger books used by accounts clerk! Haha~ Because they were too busy adding and subtracting points from each other, they failed to remember what it felt like to be doing things for each other, not for the sake of earning points but because they love each other. =)

Word Picture
This is basically about a married couple whereby the husband was so engrossed in earning to support the family as well as not wanting to feel looked down by the wife. The wife meanwhile feels that the husband is beginning to ignore her and the family and prioritises work over them. There was a long and heated argument which ended with both confessing how they felt towards each other and they reminisced about the past where they were dating, how they enjoyed talking to each other every moment- sharing everything and without boundaries. It was a happy ending after that though =)

~~~~
All sketches above were from Act 1, which was all about love, courtship and marriage. The 2nd act is more on the serious side- less laughter and more arguments, confessions, and sadness.
I didn't really enjoy part 2 as much as part 1 though. The sketch that I could say I've enjoyed most was :-
Billy
It was about a boy and his father. The boy, named Billy thought that his father loves him because of his smartness and all the good things he did. However his dad kept on reminding him that it wasn't because he knew his ABCs or that he drew a good picture of the family, but it was just because he loved him. The big guy who played Billy (Colin Kirton, the creator, producer and director!) was awesomely cute in this sketch! His voice went all squeaky and bubbly, LoL.
It all ended great, with the last and final sketch, The Greatest of These and it was curtains down. Everyone truly enjoyed the play and the audience roared with thunderous claps at the end. The play was AWESOME! Many lessons to be learned and experiences which we would soon encounter later in our lives were depicted in the sketches today.
Many credits to the Footstool Players (all casts and crew members) and the organisers as well!
Well, that is all for my post of the day~
Gotta hop into bed soon.
=)
Good Night.
