Bands and Drum Majors!

Gosh finally after an hour of selecting which pic to upload and actually getting them uploaded here, I'm done with the pics. So now's its time for the details! Yesterday night, my friends and I attended the Secondary School Military Band Competition (State Finals) at the Indera Mulia Stadium. It started at about 8.45pm but we reached at about 8pm, and waited (standing) for nearly an hour before it finally started. We couldn't get a seat but instead we stood near the VIP grand stand which gave us a great front view of everything! It was tiring though, standing until 12midnight but it was worth it. Afterall it was my first time going to see a band competition. It was kinda like a last minute decision though...OK so here are the pics..not very clear though cause it was snapped using my phone =/

So here's how it looked like from the grand stand...as we can see there are a lot of supporters who filled up nearly half of the stadium. St. Michael's supporters were at the far end there...somewhere near the big screen...A lot of young couples were there that night, plentiful of guys come to fish for girls and the same goes for girls. LOL

See groups of ppl way at the opposite end? All those black spots over there? That's where the bands were suppose to gather and make their entrance. They march all the way to the front here and start doing their formation and stuff...

This is the SMJK (C) Nan Hwa Military Band. Each have a conductor and drum major. Their's was the first band to enter the field and they started with really cool formations and their marching was so uniform, especially when changing from one formation to another. That really set the benchmark for the other following bands. The drum major did a few throws and tosses with his baton and I couldn't remember if he'd miss any. Their colour flags were very nice and colourful, not too over the top like the St. Michaels (no offence). By the way, Nan Hwa won the best participation award and best colour flags award. They also got 3rd placing overall! Congrats to Nan Hwa! You guys deserved it!

This is another school from somewhere..I couldn't remember but theirs was just ordinary, nothing out of the box.

Another participating school which again I'm not sure from here...nothing much to say..it was just ok. I think this is the band where the drum major missed several important throws and completely lost confidence after that. Poor guy... >.< Tadang! SMJK (C) Sam Tet's Military Band. They were among the best that night! Drum major was terrific! He did sooo many throws with his baton and only missed once! He threw using several styles and it was amazing! This was the only band that I paid full attention to the drum major for the whole time and completely forgotten about the band (what they were doing). Sam Tet's drum major got the Best Drum Major Award and was also the overall champion! The band did just fine without colour flags and They will be representing out state in the Nationals. ^_^

Sam Tet's band doing the march past and giving their salute (btw, the conductor and drum major has got very cool salutes, lol) to the VIPs. That's the Drum Major in front, leading and following closely behind him was the conductor (so energetic while conducting!)

Sam Tet band making their exit...

But wait!! They're not done yet...they turned around and gave us a final salute! Woohoo! Go SamTet! Go Drum Major! haha~

This is another band from the Anglo Chinese School (ACS) Setiawan I think (not really sure though) This is the only band with a conductress! The rest are all guys. Haha my friends and I spent the whole time debating over whether the drum major was a girl or a guy, whether he or she has boobs or not =.=|| haha turns out the drum major was a GUY. LoL We were too busy debating on the issue that we missed the band's performance. In other words, we paid most attention the the girl/guy drum major! They did not get any awards though.

This is the St. Michael Institution's Military Band, who looked like Power Rangers! LoL They had the most outstanding uniform as most of the bands had white based uniform while their's was dark blue and green. Drum major and conductor were in white. They were really great too and I came here to support Sam Tet and SMI. The Michaelians wanted to beat Sam Tet so badly but in the end, they only managed to grab hold of 2nd place. I think the colour flags overdid it. There was too much of dramatic dance (eg. girl and guy dancing, holding each other, twising and turning until they fall to the ground ballerina style and some cheerleading stunt)

Here's the band doing some song and the colour flags were done dancing. LoL

This is the cheerleading stunt. I wonder if it's approriate for them to do so. I'm not sure. Here we have the band playing at the back and the colour flags were stealing all the attention in front by doing some cheerleading thing. It was a great effort and very creative of them, but it's a risk to take. You overdo it and the judges might not accept it. They couldn't even win best colour flag award...Nan Hwa was just ok, not too over the top and they got the award.

Here they're beginning to do their formation, and its really nice! Good job! Drum major here wasn't so much of a scene stealer, well not as much as the one from Sam Tet though!

Here we have a square and the colour flags were inside dancing something like the 80s kinda style. LOL

Here's another formation, circles I think, and once again we have the pair (in red) dancing there

The final formation and last song, before they exit the stadium. The conductor is going back to join his fellow drum major.

This is the SMJK (C) Ave Maria band performing. They did not enter the competition this time. It was a short performance in the mean time waiting for the results. They look like muskateers!

Hm, my phone battery ran out before I managed to capture a few last shots where all bands were gathered right in front of us, and when they announced the winners... >.< I'll update when I get the pics from my friends. Btw here's a book that I highly recommend. Its about bands and drum majors...really nice and interesting. This book stirred up my interests in drum majors! lol

Happy Birthday DanRad

Happy 20th Birthday
Daniel Radcliffe !!!

LoL can't believe I used to be such a crazy fan of him, back when I was about 12 - 14 years old. Those were the crazy periods, then then I was still a fan of him after that, till now...just that it has toned down a lot! Haha~ I used to print out so many things about him from the internet and cut out articles from newpapers to make a Harry Potter scrap book! I know him like a book, memorised his personal details like a dry sponge absorbing water. But now I like him portraying Harry Potter and will forever be a fan of him for he filled up a big part of my teen years. So here, in my tiny, little-known blog, I would like to wish you, Daniel Radcliffe a very Happy Birthday and may your life be blessed with the many wonderful things to come in future!

The Chosen One~ HP

I've just watched Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince yesterday and it was well, a good movie I would say. It was very nice to see that the director has put in the effort to squeeze in a bit of everything from all the chapters in the book. Of course, I don't expect a perfect 100% movie that will blow me away, but this is good enough and I'm satisfied as a Harry Potter fan who has been following the movie since the release of HP and The Socerer's Stone. You've gotta watch the movie!

The best part which I think and is still playing vividly in my mind is where Dumbledore waved his wand and casted the spell which set the whole cave on fire and golden flames were swirling and encircling the two of them. This is when Harry got the opportunity to save himself and get to Dumbledore. Also in this movie, they included a lot of scenes which took place in the towers, revealing such beautiful and breath taking landscape (although I know most of them is just fake) like those facing the Great Lake, the Quidditch pitch, and a few more which I couldn't quite recall now. I honestly enjoyed watching every part of the movie (all 6 of them so far!) because its just so enchanting and magical ^_^

I've decided to put up a series of pictures comparing the HP trio from the 1st movie, Harry Potter and the Socerer's Stone till the latest installment, Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince.

Harry Potter and The Socerer's Stone
As you can see, the trio here were just tiny tots about 10-12 years of age...lol Ron looked the cutest when he was younger...and Harry was just...Harry... =) the boy who lived in the cupboard under the stairs finally found out that he IS the boy who lived, the chosen one...

Harry Potter and The Chamber of SecretsThey've grown quite a lot here compared to the first movie. The most obvious thing is their height and voices. Boy were they so much more different than before...Harry's looking more matured here...too matured for a 12 yr old I think..haha

Harry Potter and The Prisoner of AzkabanI like Harry the most in this 3rd movie. Most probably it's because of the cool spiky hairstyle and how matured he has been compared to the previous 2 movies. I love his look in this movie among the other installments. And of course, Ron and Hermione did grow a lot too. She's much prettier (although she's not suppose to be, according to the book!) and he's grown very much into a young adult and no more the cute 'lil red head in Year 1. Uniforms have changed too, to a cloak with red sidelines (and its cool!). No more fully black.

Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire
Here, we see that they've obviously outgrown their characters. The trio obviously don't look like a bunch of 14 year olds. Harry's lock of hair was..erm a bit too much? Hermione is getting too pretty already! LoL and Ron is getting em...too grown up and looks TOTALLY different from the Ron we see in the first picture. But anyway this movie was the most interesting one to me, because we have the Triwizard Tournament! Yay and my room is still full of HP posters, mostly from this particular movie which was bought about 2 to 3 years back? LOL and they're still up on my wall! ~ I see the Chalice of Champions!

Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix
This is the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series and things are getting more complicated. Characters start to die, as in this movie was Sirius Black @ padfoot. New casts were introduced, Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, Dolores Umbridge, and we have a battle scene between Voldermort and Dumbledore in the Ministry of Magic itself. The only part I'm not very satisfied is Cho Chang's fakeness. Gosh she's so friggin fake, with all the fake accents and atitude. LoL I wouldn't deny that there was a speck of jealousy in there. XD But overall, this movie is fantastic!

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince
Finally the long awaited sequel...the half blood prince. *Try comparing this pic and the pic in the Socerer's Stone and see how they've grown.* (Even Daniel's gone naked with a horse and a model! Rupert's been in a bed scene before and Emma's entering the Ivy League this fall...) I couldn't quite recall most of the story because the last time I read the book was close to 4 yrs ago! And I've only read it once...lol. So this is the 6th and second last movie, the final one is about to come...and then that will be it. No more Harry Potter....sob sob...

Reason, Season or a Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person...
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experienc
e of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only fo
r a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must build upon in or
der to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesso
n,
love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of
your life.
It is said that love is blind bu
t friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life,
whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime

Reality vs Non Reality

Sometimes when one is a little bored and perhaps a little tired of what's going on in the real life, it is best to switch one's attention to the non-reality once in a while, as a way of relieving stress. Escaping from the realities of life is what people will say, but say all you want because believe it or not some people to rely on this method. This is sometimes one of my ways to help myself from thinking of too much and complicating things in my mind. Sometimes when I cannot come to a conclusion or don't have the energy to keep on dwelling on a particular matter, I'll just find myself an escape route.

What I mean by an escape route is that I find something to do, like start watching an anime series or perhaps a movie and get really engrossed in it till I'm all gaga over the cute guy in them, or maybe just sit down, relax and get myself a good book to read. When I read, I really tend to 'dive' straight in the plot (if its interesting) and really feel as if the plot and I are moving together.

Take Harry Potter for example, I was an avid reader of the book series because J.K Rowling has made it so incredibly exciting to go on and on, chapter after chapter. The way she describes Hogwarts, the scenery, the history, background of each person and character and she even pays attention to the tiny details of the surroundings in the story. Not to mention her way of expressing emotions and linking of many parts of the plot and combine all into one single marvelous conclusion which often made me go like 'OH, gosh I never thought of it' She's one brilliant author and I thank her for bringing Harry Potter and Hogwarts to life. Hence, when I read that, I often picture myself as part of the story as well, with me really inside the book and going along with the characters. I can imagine what that place looked like through her amazing description and several times, I'd love to have been able to go there and see how it looks like.

Then, let's say if I start watching an anime, and if I really like it, it makes me sorta go in to it. Thinking of the story, the amazing hottie hero (which is always the attracting factor! LOL) and the funniness (is there such word?) occupies me for quite some time and this kinda make me not think about the complicating things around me, be it stress from studies or other friendship issues. When I like something, which is usually the cute guy from the anime or whatever drama series or movie, I'll devote a certain percentage of my cerebral capacity to him. This helps me de-stress in a way! haha~ Many credits to the anime guys that I like:- Wolfram von Bielefelt, Hiei, Kurama, George Koizumi, Ranma, Hayate Ayasaki, Ryuki, Seiran, Kawahira Kaoru, Prince turned Firelord Zuko, Tamaki-sennpai, Zero, Len Tsukimori, Soldier Shin (Jomy Marcus Shin), Soldier Blue, Abe No Masahiro, Kenshee Himura...that's about it I guess...

Hm, that's basically what I wanna share this time, cause I just thought of this topic yesterday night when I was in bed. I might have written more if it weren't for my busy MSN! Too many people popped up suddenly! Haha~ anyways, Chiaoz

I was down with a terrible sorethroat on Friday...and then caught fever on Saturday morning...then flu came this morning... @_@

Missed my close friend's bday celebration yesterday night...missed my favourite idol's appearance at the nearest possible place to me ever... =_= really an unlucky weekend...its like he seldom comes to my country. Even if he does, he goes to other places. This time, he comes to a mall so friggin near to my house and I've to fall sick during this time..! Its just so unfair....

And all this flu, fever and sorethroat scared the shit outta me and my mom...what if its like H1N1?
The doctor said that if the fever's still around by Monday (which is by tomoro) then I'll have to go and check up at the general hospital...luckily the fever's gone today...

Hopefully I'll recover soon...
I even have to skip 2 classes tomoro... =/

Self review

OK, self review here...

I realise that my blog so far, has contained mostly posts on my feelings, emotions, complains, happy and sad moments...all mixed up and let lose here...

When people read my blog, some might say that, 'Why do you even bother posting all this stuff on how you feel and all this emotions? bla bla bla...' Yeah, I admit its all on my emotions and honestly this is the only place where I can spill it all out honestly and knows that no one will find out...haha so if you don't like it, then don't read it! LoL

Anyway, I also realised that I've been a bit unfair or have been acting indifferently towards some people, which I know its very bad of me. I tend to put so much hope and attention to someone and totally push off another, although that person has been very good to me. Yes, I know, it's my problem and no one else's. It's not his fault, its mine. I don't know why, but I just wanna shut him off completely, which I know can be very hurtful (I know it because I've also been treated in a similar way not too long ago either, by 'someone'). I didn't mean it...really...I'm sorry and I know its wrong, but sometimes I just don't want to let myself feel so unhappy because I'm trying to please the other person and not let him get hurt. Many times, I just want to completely, totally ignore him because I can't stand it anymore. I just wanna completely avoid that person if possible.

Crazier

Crazier
by Taylor Swift

I've never gone with the wind
Just let it flow
Let it take me where it wants to go
'till you open the door
There's so much more
I'd never seen it before

I was tryin' to fly
but I couldn't find wings
but you came along
and you changed everything

You lift my feet off the ground
You spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling
And I am lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier
Crazier

I watched from a distance as you
Made life your own
Every sky was your own kind of blue
And I wanted to know
How that would feel
And you made it so real
You showed me somethin'
That I couldn't see
Opened my eyes and
You made me believe

You lift my feet off the ground
You spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling
And I am lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier
Crazier, Oh

Baby you showed me
What livin' is for
I don't wanna hide anymore

You lift my feet off the ground
You spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling
And I am lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier
Crazier, crazier
Crazier...

Ps. Did I tell you before that you have to find someone who actually loves you more than you love him/her?

Disappointed

Ok, I was really disappointed...for something...I thought you'd change...thought that you'd finally realise and buck up...but...doesn't seem like it though...

I'm really disappointed...

Disappointed by ~myannalise9

You forgot wh
o you said you were, I’m disappointed.
You never really meant it, I’m disappointed.

You lied and cheated and stole, I’m disappointed.

You’ve changed, I’m disappointed.

You ran away from your dreams, I’m disappointed.

You gave up, I’m disappointed.

You’re killing yourself, I’m disappointed.

You look like a fool, I’m disappointed.

What can I do, I’m disappointed.

You won’t listen to me, I’m disappointed.

I can’t make you change, I’m disappointed.

I did all I could, I’m disappointed.
I taught you and guided you, I’m disappointed.
You still ignore me, I’m disappointed.

You forgot what I said, I’m disappointed.

You never really cared, I’m disappointed.

But what can I do? I’m disappointed in you...
